Fire Safety Specialists – Multiple Disciplines

The Fire Protection Association (FPA) is the UK’s national fire safety organisation with an unrivalled reputation for quality of work in all aspects of loss prevention, including research, consultancy, training, publications, risk surveying and auditing.

The Technical Division of the FPA is a unique blend of engineers, scientists and consultants. They provide a comprehensive range of practical, high integrity services, tailored to the clients requirements. In addition, with over 60 years training experience, the FPA is the leading fire safety training provider in the UK and has significant experience of delivering fire safety training, from major blue chip companies to the public sector and SMEs.

As a result of growing business needs, the FPA have several key vacancies for Fire Safety Specialists in various disciplines:

Principal Consultant – Structural Fire Engineering, Gloucestershire (73814/JMB)

Salary dependent on experience

A Chartered Engineer, an expert in structures, construction techniques and materials, the successful candidate will be heavily involved with the InFiReS scheme on behalf of UK insurers, co-ordinating research and developing best practice guidance through a series of working groups. The successful candidate will therefore possess the skills required to provide the highest level of technical advice within fire related construction disciplines, in addition to the personal skills required to convene and facilitate a group of technical insurer representatives. Also, you will provide project consultancy services involving passive fire protection capabilities of building designs and methodologies, where large scale test programs may be required. Specialist engineering knowledge will also be provided to the Network Services Group as required.

Senior Fire Safety Engineer, Gloucestershire (75277/JMB)

Salary dependent on experience

As Senior Fire Safety Engineer, you will play your part in meeting the business development aims of the Network Services Group specifically relating to the Fire Safety Engineering verification service. Responsibilities will include supporting the development, effective functioning and management of the verification service. In addition, you will be required to represent the FPA and insurers on technical and strategic committees, and conduct project work within the technical division. The successful candidate will possess significant technical knowledge in this field, with strong project management skills, expert presence and financial awareness.

Training Officer, Nationwide locations (73817/JMB)

Salary dependent on experience

The role of Training Officer involves undertaking the management, development and delivery of training courses across all subject areas within Fire Safety Management and Engineering. The position also involves the development and delivery of bespoke courses for commercial clients, including Local Authority Fire & Rescue Services. You will be required to present lectures on open and bespoke courses to a variety of audiences, and possess the ability to devise the necessary presentation materials and visual aids associated with each course. In addition, you will be responsible for managing other FPA personnel and external contractors as required. Client liaison will be a key element to this role in order to tailor courses for their individual needs. The successful candidate will have significant experience in Fire Safety Engineering/Management in a training capacity, ideally supported with relevant qualifications in a related discipline.

Fire Safety Consultant, Gloucestershire (73815/JMB)

Salary dependent on experience

The purpose of this role is to provide accurate and concise technical advice in written and verbal form to fee-paying clients. Possessing in-depth knowledge of the principles of fire safety management, you will deliver this service to agreed client programmes of work, producing technical reports and key recommendations from fire risk assessments and the application of industry best practice. You will be required to apply your own and other experts advice from within the FPA. Applicants should be degree qualified in a relevant engineering or scientific discipline, or possess a recognised Health and Safety qualification.
